As Executive Producer and Head of Development I will be working closely with recently appointed Editor and Chief Greg Dâ€™Alessandro to develop new website content, explore sponsorship opportunities, licensing of our characters, and development of existing content and characters for podcasts, film and television.Recently concluded a partnership arrangement with Tammy Pescatelli, one of Americaâ€™s best known female comediennes, to create website content as well as developing her show "News From Abroad" for the WWN website and YouTube channel.
Options to produce a podcast as well as a TV show on Amazon have also been concluded with Skybound Entertainment, creators and producers of the long running TV hit, "The Walking Dead".
A formal relaunch of the Weekly World News website is scheduled to begin September 21st, 2020 and a kickstarter campaign to run through Friday, October 23rd.
Tony n' Tina's Wedding
In 1988, Joe left Wall Street and along with brother Dan, acquired the worldwide rights to produce, license for what is now the second longest running show in off-Broadway history, Tony n' Tina's Wedding. The show is currently in its 30th year, and continues to play in performing arts centers, casinos, fundraisers and for special events all around the world.
n 1999, Joe Corcoran co-founded the online theater media company www.theatermania.com along with Darren Sussman. In July 2017 TheaterMania merged with global ticketing and content provider "Audience View".
Joe served as CEO of TheaterMania until 2001, when he left the company to continue producing. TheaterMania is currently being run by Gretchen Shugart, the companies CEO since 2001, and co-founder/president Darren Sussman. Joe continues to serve as the companies Chairman of the Board.
TheaterMania.com provides theater news, reviews, over 6,000 nationwide listings, marketing services, and streaming media. TheaterMania averages over 1 million unique users each month and over 500,000 registered members. The Gold Club is one audience development program that has played a significant role in building this audience. TheaterMania also offers a full-service ticketing system named www.ovationtix.com to over 900 venues. This past year Theatermania published its first reference book entitled "TheaterMania.com's Guide to Musical Theater Soundtracks." The book is available in bookstores throughout the United States.
Opened at the Broadway Theater on April 21st, 2015 after first premiering at the LaJolla Playhouse in 2005. Since the 10 week run in LaJolla Doctor Zhivago has played to capacity crowds, on a tour throughout Australia in 2009-2010, then subsequent productions in Korea, Helsinki and Sweden.
Based on the Nobel Prize winning novel and Academy Award winning film Doctor Zhivago, the musical, is directed by 2 time Tony Award winning director Des McAnuff, Grammy Award winning composer Lucy Simon, book by Michael Weller as well as multiple award winning co-lyricists, Amy Powers and michael Korie.
The producing team consists of multiple tony award winners Anita Waxman, Ralph and Gail Bryan, Chase Mishkin, tom Dockton, Joe Corcoran, Karen Cellini, Todd Harris and Ahmos Hassan.

Late Nite Catechismr
In 1994 Joe Corcoran, and brother Dan, produced the New York company of Late Nite Catechism (www.latenitecatechism.com). The "one nun sensation" received rave reveiws from the New York critics which allowed the show to run at St. Lukes Theater on West 46th Street for over 5 years. Late Nite Catechism continues to play around the country, currently under the control of Entertainment Events Inc, in touring productions, limited engagements and benefit performances.
Life & Cancer
In December 2008, everything he had known and believed had suddenly shifted, when he was diagnosed with lung cancer. A blog was created (www.joesjourney.com) to give access to those who wanted to contribute to his healing process, which attracted over 30,000 visitors and lots of blessings. Now several years later his health is on track for a full recovery, which can only be described as miraculous. Thus life goes on with a new perspective and appreciation for what lies ahead.
In 2010, Joe Corcoran was honored by Hofstra University to benefit their "Save our Scholarship" fund. Otherwise known as SOS, the event took place at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse on the Hofstra campus, featuring a stellar group of Broadway singers performing "The Best of Broadway". Songs included such classic shows as Les Miserables', Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, The Secret Garden and Jesus Christ Superstar, as well as upcoming mega-musicals Doctor Zhivago, An Officer and a Gentleman and Grumpy Old Men.
n 2003 Joe Corcoran executive produced the independent film, Seriously Twisted. Filmed in Housatonic, Massachusetts and the surrounding areas of the Berkshires. Seriously Twisted was recently sold to distribution company, Echelon/Newmark. The film is a psychological thriller about a celebrity couple, played by Mark Nassar and Karen Cellini, who are involved in a twisted fate when they try to cover up the murder of a teenage girl in a hit and run accident, on the way home from the Emmy Awards.
