In December 2008, everything he had known and believed had suddenly shifted, when he was diagnosed with lung cancer. A blog was created (www.joesjourney.com) to give access to those who wanted to contribute to his healing process, which attracted over 30,000 visitors and lots of blessings. Now a year later his health is on track for a full recovery, which can only be described as miraculous. Thus life goes on with a new perspective and appreciation for what lies ahead.
News & Events: Joe Corcoran to Be Honored by Hofstra University
On February 6th, 2010 Joe Corcoran will be honored by Hofstra University to benefit their "Save our Scholarship" fund. Otherwise known as SOS, the event will take place at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse on the Hofstra campus, featuring a stellar group of Broadway singers performing "The Best of Broadway". Songs will be sung from such classic shows as Les Miserables', Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, The Secret Garden and Jesus Christ Superstar, as well as upcoming mega-musicals Doctor Zhivago, An Officer and a Gentleman and Grumpy Old Men. Of course cocktails and food will be provided, before and afterwards, and it will be a great chance to see old friends.
Current & Upcoming Projects
As part of his healing process Joe began documenting his experiences, which could very well be leading to his first book. From childhood stories, the college years, how Tony n' Tina's Wedding started, how TheaterMania.com came to be, family, children and illness. How perspective has changed to be a more grateful person, make better choices, to only work and play with people he loves, and the overall development and deepening of personal relationships in the second half of his life…… has left him with no shortage of words. Whether or not it is ultimately shared with anyone outside of Joe's immediate family and friends is yet to be seen. But given the wakeup call he received this past year, and his miraculous recovery, the importance of documenting his legacy and true expression of his feelings has come to the forefront.
oe's next production - set to open at the world renowned Sydney Opera house in Sydney, Australia in January 2011 - is Doctor Zhivago, a musical based on the iconic novel by Boris Pasternak and Acadamy Award winning Film by David Lean Doctor Zhivago. Investment Opportunities
nvesting in a theatrical production is not for everyone. But in the coming months I, along with my partners, will be putting together an investment prospectus which will hold and exploit the world-wide rights to a musical version of the award winning film and novel Doctor Zhivago. Everyone who participates at this initial level, and assuming the show does move to other territories, shall participate in every production of Doctor Zhivago worldwide...sAnd forever.
